We simply love how the lines develop into a grand, dark blue X in the middle of this minimalist pile knot rug.
The X motif has a layered meaning in the Amazigh culture. According to the local beliefs, the X stands for scissors, which has been the symbol for highly honoured metalworkers who played a significant role in protecting people against the evil spirits. However, the origins of this motif trace back to the ancient fertility cult, referring to spread legs and arms.
The rug is made of natural and hand-dyed wool on cotton warping and has fringes on one end only.
** All our rugs are carefully hand-knotted. Each piece is completely unique, bearing the individual self-expression of the weaver woman as well as the weaving traditions of the tribes of the Atlas Mountains. We handpick each and every piece of our collection. Please note that Berber rugs are handcrafted products so you may spot minor imperfections. We think this only adds to their character and charm.
