This rug features several symbols often seen in the artwork of the Amazigh “free people.” These symbols are not only used in rugs but also in tattoos, ceramics and jewellery. The arrow, the sickle, the amulet, the spider, the seeds all serve to cast out evil spirits and bring prosperity, abundance and fertility to the owner. The stylized, pictogram-like motifs are not only useful in warding off negative energy but also very beautiful. This rug would work beautifully in a modern home.
This thick Beni Ourain rug is made of rather dark-coloured natural wool and has fringes on one end only.
** All our rugs are carefully hand-knotted. Each piece is completely unique, bearing the individual self-expression of the weaver woman as well as the weaving traditions of the tribes of the Atlas Mountains. We handpick each and every piece of our collection. Please note that Berber rugs are handcrafted so you may spot minor imperfections, but we believe this only adds to their character and charm.
