The first incarnation of this rug was made by an elderly weaver named Aisha from one of our favourite weaving teams, and when we asked for another, her daughter Nadira took on the task. Nadira’s rug was woven with a warmer pink base colour and she added grey, burgundy, navy blue, pale green and cream wool decorative motifs. The design is centred around two key female symbols: the lozenge and the jar. These are accompanied by several zigzag lines and small pictograms symbolising protection.
The rug is made of hand-dyed, hand-knotted wool yarn on cotton warping and is fringed at both ends. It will be a beautiful addition to a cozy room.
** All our rugs are carefully hand-knotted. Each piece is completely unique, bearing the individual self-expression of the weaver woman as well as the weaving traditions of the tribes of the Atlas Mountains. We handpick each and every piece of our collection. Please note that Berber rugs are handcrafted products so you may spot minor imperfections. We think this only adds to their character and charm.
