Square shaped rug with string-of-pearl design

This is an unusually-shaped rug being almost square at 177×154 cm.

It is a magical piece! Its elaborate patterns, reminiscent of a row of pearls, and the thin rose-coloured border blend in delicately with its butter-coloured wool background. It is dominated by shades of mauve, pink and pale orange, with grey, golden brown, burgundy and brighter pink shapes that look like little gemstones.

It is a completely natural rug. The wool is not treated with any chemicals: the yarn was dyed with botanical dyes and natural soap was used when washing.
