A traditional, diamond-mesh Beni Ourain rug made more adorable with its uneven lines. The Amazigh weaving culture is quite rebellious by nature – they are certainly not fond of excessive perfection! For this rug, the weaver gave a twist to the typical diamond mesh pattern by intentionally “spoiling” the pattern on both sides. We just love it!
The rug came from a village in the High Atlas Mountains, far from the original habitat of the Beni Ourain tribes. Therefore its weaving is less dense than the usual Beni Ourains’ – it contains more fixing rows between the rows of knots. It is made of well-spun, darker-coloured natural and dyed wool yarn and is fringed on both ends.
** All our rugs are carefully hand-knotted. Each piece is completely unique, bearing the individual self-expression of the weaver woman as well as the weaving traditions of the tribes of the Atlas Mountains. We handpick each and every piece of our collection. Please note that Berber rugs are handcrafted products so you may spot minor imperfections. We think this only adds to their character and charm.
