Boucherouite rug w a riot of colours

This marvellous Boucheroite is a riot of colours: pink, burgundy, brown, light blue, dark blue, yellow, green, cream, rose and purple details jostle for your attention. In the middle of the rug we can see three lines of lozenge chains filled with energetic colours. These are framed by long lines of zigzags on both sides.

Boucherouites are special rag rugs knotted from a variety of materials that were clothes and home textiles in their past lives. As a result these style of Berber rugs are extra sustainable and durable and can even be thrown into the washing machine (provided you have a huge washing machine…). The rug is surprisingly heavy as it contains a lot of fabric scraps. I was made on upcycled cotton warps.
