This rug features several symbols of the Amazigh (Berber) people. These symbols are not only used in rugs but also in tattoos, ceramics and jewellery. The scissors, arrow, the eight-point star, the x shapes, the amulet and the seeds all serve to cast out evil spirits and bring prosperity, abundance and fertility to the owner. We also love how the minimalist, pictogram-like motifs suit this joyful rug, especially combined with such exciting colours.
This thick Azilal rug is made of natural wool and mixed yarns. It is closed with fringes on one end and a flatwoven finish on the other end.
** All our rugs are carefully hand-knotted. Each piece is completely unique, bearing the individual self-expression of the weaver woman as well as the weaving traditions of the tribes of the Atlas Mountains. We handpick each and every piece of our collection. Please note that Berber rugs are handcrafted products so you may spot minor imperfections. We think this only adds to their character and charm.
